On July 4, 2026, the United States marks its 250th anniversary of independence — the semiquincentennial. This is not a routine Independence Day. Celebrations planned from coast to coast are expected to be the largest in American history, and if you are visiting or travelling within the US around that date, advance planning is not optional — it is essential.

Top Cities for the 250th Celebrations

Washington DC is the centrepiece of the national commemoration. The National Mall will host the country’s largest fireworks display, a daytime parade down Constitution Avenue, and special programming at the Smithsonian museums and Lincoln Memorial. Travel Logistics

Flights: The window from July 2 to July 6 will be among the busiest air travel days ever recorded in the US. Book as early as possible and allow extra time at airports. Domestic routes between major cities will be under significant pressure.
