Where to Stay in Baltimore

Baltimore’s hotel landscape has improved significantly over the past decade. The Inner Harbor has the highest density of options, including major chain hotels with direct harbor views. Fells Point and Mount Vernon offer boutique alternatives with more neighborhood character, and both are close enough to the harbor to walk. We have covered the best options at each price tier below.

Luxury Hotels

Four Seasons Baltimore — 200 International Dr, Inner Harbor. The definitive luxury address in the city, with floor-to-ceiling harbor views from most rooms, an excellent spa, and a well-staffed concierge. The Lamill restaurant on the ground floor is one of the better hotel dining rooms in Baltimore. Rates run approximately $350–$600 per night as of 2026, rising significantly during Preakness week (third Saturday of May) and large convention periods.

The Ivy Hotel — 205 E Biddle St, Mount Vernon. An 18-room luxury property in a meticulously restored 1889 brownstone mansion. Every room is uniquely decorated, the service-to-guest ratio is exceptional, and rates include breakfast and afternoon tea. Rates approximately $400–$700 per night as of 2026. This is Baltimore’s finest small hotel.

Sagamore Pendry Baltimore — 1715 Thames St, Fells Point. Occupying the 1914 Recreation Pier — the building used as the fictional Baltimore Police Department HQ in the TV series The Wire — the Sagamore Pendry is one of the most atmospheric hotels in the city. The 128-room property has a rooftop pool deck, a serious restaurant (Magdalena), and a location at the center of Fells Point. Rates approximately $250–$450 per night as of 2026.

Mid-Range Hotels

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore — 2 N Charles St, Mount Vernon. A 202-room boutique hotel in a grand 1906 Beaux-Arts building that once housed the B&O Railroad headquarters. Rooms are stylishly furnished, the rooftop bar (The Bygone) is worth a visit even if you are not staying, and the Charles Street location puts you within walking distance of the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore Symphony, and the harbor. Rates approximately $160–$280 per night as of 2026.

Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor — 300 Light St. A reliable 488-room full-service hotel connected by skywalk to the convention center and a five-minute walk from the National Aquarium. Rooms in the tower floors have strong harbor views. Rates approximately $170–$280 per night as of 2026. Good for families who want convenience and a standard of amenity.

Admiral Fell Inn — 888 S Broadway, Fells Point. A 80-room inn spread across seven adjacent Federal-style buildings dating from the 1770s to 1840s. Rooms vary in size; some upper-floor rooms have harbor views. The inn’s age is part of the appeal — exposed brick, uneven floors, and narrow staircases are features rather than flaws here. Rates approximately $130–$220 per night as of 2026.

Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor — 401 W Pratt St. A large convention-focused hotel directly connected to the Baltimore Convention Center. Useful for convention attendees or travelers who want a reliable mid-range option close to the harbor. Rates approximately $150–$250 per night as of 2026.

Budget and Value Hotels

HI Baltimore — 17 W Mulberry St, Inner Harbor. The city’s main hostel, well-located for Inner Harbor sightseeing and the downtown attractions. Dorm beds run approximately $35–$55 per night as of 2026, making it the most affordable option in a central location.

Holiday Inn Express Inner Harbor — 221 N Gay St. A reliable budget hotel option close to the waterfront, with rates approximately $90–$130 per night as of 2026. Baltimore is significantly more affordable than Washington DC — comparable hotels in the capital typically cost 30–40% more for the same tier, which makes Baltimore a practical base for day trips to DC via the MARC Penn Line train (approximately 45 minutes, $9 each way as of 2026).

Holiday Inn Baltimore-Inner Harbor — 301 W Lombard St. A 375-room hotel a short walk from the harbor with standard but comfortable rooms. Rates approximately $100–$160 per night as of 2026. One of the better-value options in the immediate downtown area.

Courtyard Baltimore Downtown/Inner Harbor — 1000 Aliceanna St, near Fells Point. A Marriott-brand property on the eastern edge of the harbor, convenient for both the Inner Harbor and Fells Point. Rates approximately $120–$180 per night as of 2026.

Choosing a Neighborhood to Stay In

Inner Harbor is ideal if this is your first visit or if you are bringing children. The major attractions are walkable, the water taxi is steps from most hotels, and the neighborhood is active and well-lit at night. The trade-off is price and the tourist-heavy atmosphere.

Fells Point suits travelers who want neighborhood character, access to good restaurants and bars, and a slightly quieter pace. It is a 20-minute walk from the National Aquarium along the waterfront promenade, and the water taxi stops here. Cobblestones and narrow sidewalks make it less convenient with large luggage or strollers.

Mount Vernon is the right choice for museum-focused travelers and those who prefer a residential atmosphere over tourist zones. The Walters Art Museum is steps away, Penn Station is walkable, and several of the best mid-range restaurants in the city are in the neighborhood.

Practical Booking Notes

Baltimore hotel rates rise sharply during the Preakness Stakes (third Saturday of May at Pimlico) — book at least three months ahead for that weekend. Large conventions at the Baltimore Convention Center also drive rates up on irregular dates; check convention center calendars before booking if flexibility matters. Parking at most Inner Harbor hotels costs approximately $25–$35 per night in hotel garages as of 2026; some Fells Point and Mount Vernon properties have limited free or lower-cost parking.
